Last week, we decided to see some fall colors at the Lost Maples State Park. We searched for a B&B in the area and found Bend O’the River Bed & Breakfast in Utopia. It took us about 3 hours drive from Austin to Utopia which is a part of Uvalde County. Seven Days in Utopia (2011) was filmed primarily in Utopia featuring Academy Award winner Robert Duvall and Lucas Black. It is based on the book Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia. It’s also just a few minutes drive from the B&B to the Lost Maples Park.
We were quite happy to meet Peggy & Ron since they’re very nice and entertaining hosts. They served a delicious breakfast and staying there felt like home away from home.
It was also enjoyable to meet another couple who stayed at the B&B. We would sit outside at night with drinks in our hand, stargazing and talking until it was too cold to stay out. We planned to stay overnight but since the atmosphere was so relaxing, we opted to stay for another day. When we left, Peggy thoughtfully gave us a bag of yummy cookies & coffee for our trip back home. Definitely going back there the next time we visit the Lost Maples area.
